Troop 1344 will hold an Orienteering Event for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts on 1 June 2019 at Burke Lake Park on the east side (end of Old Keene Mill Road) to work on Orienteering Skills and the Orienteering Merit Badge, and as outreach to local Cub Scout Packs.

The Event will have Morning and Afternoon Sessions.

The Morning Session will allow Boy Scouts to complete requirements for the Orienteering Merit Badge. It will start at 9:30 AM and run until about 12:30 PM.    The Afternoon Session will be for Boy Scouts to teach Cub Scouts Orienteering Skills. The session will run from 1:15 PM until about 4:30 PM.    A detailed schedule can be found on our calendar.

Scouts will need to bring their 10 essentials, especially bug spray, water, sunscreen, and first aid kit.

Scouts must bring their own compasses. These should be orienteering compasses or lensatic compasses. For Cub Scouts, if there is only one or two orienteering or lensatic compasses per den, then we can work with that. The Troop doesn’t have extra compasses.

The Troop will provide maps.

Den leaders are responsible for having scouts permission forms and health forms on hand. Troop 1344’s own scouts/parents are responsible for their own forms. ASM Brian Luti will check Troop 1344 Scouts upon arrival.
